Turn Your Eyes upon Saddam
(sung to the tune of "Turn Your Eyes upon Jesus")

O saint, are you weary and jaded?
No use for the Gospel you see?
Theres a thrill for a look at Saddam,
More fun the reality T.V.!

Refrain
Turn your eyes upon Iraq,
Look at Saddams twice foolish face,
And the things of God will grow strangely dim,
In debate, when to bomb Iraqs base.

Through CNN into news everlasting,
Theres Rush, and dont forget Drudge;
The Bible, well discuss only in passing --
Lets revisit Babylons grudge!

Refrain

So... if we ignore Saddams crimes and the treat that he poses, we will somehow be more Holy?
Will that make us all feel better if we wake up one morning and find that New York is gone?

Hamilton109,

<<<So... if we ignore Saddams crimes and the treat that he poses, we will somehow be more Holy?>>>

Neither ignorance nor tolerance with regard to Saddam are the path to holiness.

<<<Will that make us all feel better if we wake up one morning and find that New York is gone?>>>

Though He kill me, yet will I praise Him.

Okay, but your poem certainly seemed to suggest otherwise.

<<<<<Will that make us all feel better if we wake up one morning and find that New York is gone?>>>>>

>>Though He kill me, yet will I praise Him.<<

If we are talking about our Heavenly Father, fine, but just in case you hadn't noticed, they are two different guys.

I can only assume that you intended to trivialize the current situation with Iraq by composing this little poem, little poems solve nothing. This situation is very serious and deserves far more serious attention than those who cant walk and chew gum at the same time both intellectualy and spiritualy can offer, little poems with a pinch of self rightousness thrown in do nothing which is exactly what i suspect the author would have us do,nothing.

Your poem is a discourse on focus. Should we focus on Saddam? Should we focus on Iraq? Should we focus on the media? or Should we focus on the Bible's word?

I can see why others would call this trival and meanlingless.....and miss your point all together. ~Minister Falcon
